Web-based anatomical resource for artists
// November 24th, 2010 // No Comments » // Uncategorized
Learning anatomy can be one of the most challenging things for artists of any skill level. I was excited to find there were a few cutting edge web based options out there for people. I’m all about finding ways to use technology to inform my artistic process. The human body is a machine. While at a micro-biological level it has a vast depth of complexity, understanding the body on a purely mechanical level is very attainable in the life of an artist. And now thanks to advanced technologies an artist can explore the body in 3-dimensions at any time. A superior resource a pre-internet artist would envy!
What: Browser based 3d gui enabling the user to explore human anatomy
Why: As an artist you want to learn anatomy, before these resources you would need to use reference sculptures, books, cadavers, etc.
Wow: Technology originally intended for internet gaming has been used to make an innovative resource for students. Conversely the resources design seems to be informed by gaming interfaces allowing for better and more familiar interaction.
